Here are some of the most common questions we get asked about…

…. the Venue

Can the marquee be erected on hardstanding?  Yes, we can erect the marquee on hardstanding either using grass areas nearby to tether the marquee or alternatively we can weight the structure to make sure it stays put!

Our site is very uneven.  Can a marquee still be erected?  Your garden doesn’t need to be flat for a Good Intents marquee. Unusual spaces are our speciality!

Will the marquee damage my garden?  Our team work hard to ensure the site remains the same as when they arrive, to preserve existing planting etc.  Grass under the structure might turn yellow but would usually recover quickly after we’ve cleared the site.

We have a large garden feature – can this be included within the marquee? Yes, probably. Whether it’s a plant, tree or shrub, a water feature or a prized piece of art, we can design the space to include the object to become a focal point.

… the Marquee

Can we have a look at one of your marquees already up?  Of course.  Subject to the client being happy for you to visit their property.  Alternatively, we do have an extensive gallery of pictures on our website if this isn’t possible.

How long does it take to set up and take down the marquee?  We liaise with the client about the best time to put the marquee up prior to a weekend event, and we normally take the marquee on the following Monday, but this is something we can look at in agreement between both parties.  This is a detail we can firm up nearer to the event date.

Are the marquees waterproof?  Our marquees are the most weather resistant available!

Do I need a floor in the marquee?  You don’t need a boarded floor with carpet – very often polypropylene matting will do the job perfectly well on a good flat surface and it a good cost effective option.  It very much depends on the site and the time of year your event is going to take place.

Will the marquee be lined?  Not necessarily, but we would ordinarily line the marquee, except for service areas such as the catering area.  We provide pleated wall linings or flat linings, black or ivory starcloth roof linings.

What shape will the marquee be? This very much depends on the site.  Most marquees are rectangular in shape.

Can we decorate the marquee ourselves and hang things from the ceiling?  Yes, our event manager will advise you on the points where things can be hung.

Are we allowed candles?  Of course, we do suggest they are contained somehow, whether that is in a votive or storm lamp type of holder.

What if it’s a really hot day?  Can we have air-conditioning?  The event manager will advise you on the walls which can be opened up or taken entirely away if needs be.  We can organise air-conditioning units should you wish.

How long can I use the marquee for?  We’re having a wedding on Saturday and wanted to offer a lunch on the Sunday too.  That’s usually fine.  We just need to know well in advance.

… the Electrics, Lighting and Power

Will all the lighting and power needed for the marquee come from our house?  Maybe, but preferably from a generator, particularly if food is being prepared in the Marquee.

Does the marquee come with heating?  If required, we’ll advise you of that.

What effects do the lights have?  We have a number of different lighting set ups which creates different effects.  We have pinspots set in the ceiling which are directed onto each table. Pealights create more of a fairylight effect.  Uplighters, largely used around the walls of the structure, can create atmosphere. Festoon lighting is suited to all kinds of events.  Brass or crystal chandeliers create more of a traditional look. We also have starlit roofs in black and ivory.  Externally we can use lights to create features of trees or structures.

… the Furniture

What sized tables suit 10 guests as I really don’t want my guests to be squashed?  Our standard round tables, which are 5’ 6” seat 10 comfortably.  We have 6’ round tables which give a bit more elbow room for 12 guests.  Alternatively, we have large 8’ x 3’ rectangular which offer plenty of room for 10 guests.

What type of bars can you provide?  We have LED bars which can either be round or rectangular.  We also have a rustic wooden bar that is proving more and more popular.  We can also provide poseur type tables and bar stools to create a bar area.

We wanted to create a chill out area?  What furniture do you have that’s suitable for this?  We have a number of sofas, seating and low level coffee tables.  Of course, should you have very specific furniture requirements we can source almost anything for you.

Can you provide toilets?  Yes, we can organise luxury mobile toilets for you.  Long gone are the days of the plastic portaloo!

… the Event Day

Will you be there on the day?  For larger events we can arrange for one of our marquee site foremen to be on site.

Can you accommodate last minute changes?  Yes of course.  There will invariably be some last minute alterations

… the Booking Procedure

Will you pencil me into your diary?  When you make an enquiry we will arrange to do a site visit at your chosen location to determine exactly what your requirements are and what the site best lends itself to. We will put together a detailed quotation based on these discussions and hold the date in our diary for 10 working days.

Do I need to pay a deposit?  To confirm your booking we require a deposit of 25% of the estimated final hire charges.  The booking will be deemed confirmed once this payment is received along with a signed copy of the Booking Form.

When is final payment due?  We will send you a final confirmation 2 weeks before the event date including a final invoice.  Final payment is due before the event date. Any late additions can be accommodated for and will be invoiced after the event.
